Abdullah bin Zayed Chairs first G20 Steering Committee meeting

Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the first G20 Steering Committee meeting for 2025. The session was attended by several UAE ministers and senior officials.

Review of UAE’s G20 participation

The meeting focused on the UAE’s ongoing role as a Guest Country in the G20 process. Participants discussed the contributions of UAE entities in the sherpa and finance tracks, as well as in various G20 engagement groups and task forces.

Praise for stakeholder efforts and international cooperation

Sheikh Abdullah praised the efforts of UAE representatives in advancing the country’s role in the G20 and emphasized the importance of sustained engagement across all G20 frameworks. He also expressed appreciation for South Africa’s successful hosting of G20 meetings and events.

The UAE is serving as a G20 Guest Country for the fourth consecutive year and for the sixth time overall in 2025, reflecting its ongoing commitment to global multilateral cooperation.
