Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has received the prestigious GovInsider Global Award, which was held in Singapore as part of the Innovation Festival. The award, given in the category of Best Digital Transformation in Customer Service, comes in recognition of the authority’s remarkable efforts and achievements in digital transformation. SEWA earned the accolade following competition with 189 participating government organisations from various countries around the world.
A significant milestone for sharjah
Dr Hussein Al Askar, Director of the Customer Service Department, stated that this award, organised at the continental level in Asia, represents a milestone achievement for the authority. He noted that it enhances the global standing of the Emirate of Sharjah in embracing technological innovation to deliver high-quality government services. SEWA was one of only three entities outside of Singapore to receive this honour, alongside organisations from Malaysia and Azerbaijan. This, he explained, is a testament to the authority’s commitment to offering advanced digital services through the use of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, aimed at improving customer experience and boosting operational efficiency.
Commitment to innovation and service excellence
He added that the award adds to the series of successes accomplished by SEWA, the Emirate of Sharjah, and the UAE in the field of digital transformation. It also affirms the Sharjah Government’s commitment to providing innovative services that meet the needs of citizens and residents efficiently and effectively. Winning this award reinforces SEWA’s role as a pioneer in the delivery of public services and reflects the authority’s forward-looking vision to provide integrated digital solutions that contribute to the enhancement of quality of life.
Highlighting international standards in government innovation
Al Askar pointed out that the GovInsider Award is among the most distinguished international accolades in the field of government innovation, as it highlights the groundbreaking efforts of public sector entities in improving their services through digital transformation.
Presentation earns top praise from judges
Khaled Dhiab, also from the Customer Service Department, explained that the authority secured the award following a presentation delivered by the team from the Performance Monitoring and Follow-Up Section. The presentation showcased a number of key features and significant benefits achieved through the authority’s digital transformation programme. The presentation received high praise from the organisers of the award and was selected as the best among all entries. This, Dhiab noted, reflects the outstanding level of the project implemented by SEWA and its positive impact on the authority’s services and its customers.
