Sharjah 24: As part of its efforts to promote sports and recreational activities and develop youth talent, Dibba Al Hisn Sports and Cultural Club concluded, on Saturday, its first "PlayStation" electronic games championship, at its headquarters.

Organised by the club's management, the championship took place in a challenging and competitive atmosphere in the club's social hall. The championship saw widespread participation, with 32 players from various age groups coming together to compete in the popular FIFA game, giving the event a simultaneously entertaining and professional feel.

Integrating cultural and recreational activities

Dibba Al Hisn Sports and Cultural Club is one of the most prominent Emirati clubs dedicated to honing talent and organising various sports championships. It is committed to integrating cultural and recreational activities into its programmes, achieving the club's vision of supporting modern sports, particularly electronic games, which have become a popular sport among young people.

Promoting the culture of electronic games

The organisation of the championship is part of a series of events held by the club with the aim of attracting young people and fostering a spirit of sporting competition, in addition to promoting the culture of electronic games as a mental sport that requires skill, planning, and sports tactics. Since the championship’s launch, the matches have seen fierce competition between participants, who demonstrated exceptional skills in control and strategy within the game. The competition progressed through the knockout rounds, reaching the final rounds, which brought together the most prominent players who demonstrated a high level of professionalism and the ability to handle the challenges within the game.

At the conclusion of the competition, Ahmed Mourad Al Amiri, Chairman of the Club's Football Academy and Football School Committee, crowned the winners.

Growing interest in eSports

Ahmed Mourad Al Amiri expressed his happiness with the championship’s success and the outstanding performance of the participants, praising the great turnout and interaction, which reflected the popularity of electronic games among young people. He emphasised that this event is part of the club's future plans to organise more similar championships, with the aim of enhancing the competitive and recreational aspects of the players and developing their skills in this field.

Dibba Al Hisn Club management confirmed that the championship’s great success will encourage the club to organise more similar events, especially in light of the growing interest in eSports, which have become globally recognised and receive official support from various sports federations.

In this context, the club continues its strategy of providing an integrated sporting environment that combines physical and mental activities, while ensuring that young people participate in activities that contribute to developing their skills and enhancing their competitive spirit.

The championship concluded amid a festive atmosphere, with participants expressing their happiness with the experience, appreciating the club's efforts in organising a professional championship that keeps pace with modern developments in the world of eSports, and affirming their eagerness to participate in future editions.
