Sharjah 24: In a heartfelt display of compassion and social solidarity, students from Al Qasimia University (AQU) participated in the "Khattar Al Dar" initiative, organised by the Elderly Care Home under the Sharjah Social Services Department. The initiative aimed to bring warmth and joy to the hearts of senior residents during the holy month of Ramadan.

Strengthening Social Responsibility and Respect for Seniors

This initiative aligns with Al Qasimia University’s commitment to instilling values of respect and appreciation for the elderly among its students. By engaging in such volunteer activities, students gain a deeper awareness of social responsibility and contribute to fostering the spirit of unity and community support, which is deeply rooted in the culture of the United Arab Emirates.

A Gathering of Wisdom and Generations

The visit, which took place last evening, was more than just a casual meeting; it became a bridge of affection and gratitude between generations. The students sat with the elderly residents, engaging in meaningful conversations, listening to their life stories filled with wisdom and valuable lessons, and sharing moments of warmth and companionship. The visit culminated in a shared Iftar meal, reinforcing the university’s role in promoting social cohesion and instilling values of gratitude and humanity among its students.

A Lasting Impact on Both Generations

The elderly residents expressed their immense joy and appreciation for the visit, which made them feel valued and cared for. Meanwhile, the students reflected on the profound impact of the experience, drawing inspiration from the seniors' stories of resilience, perseverance, and love for life. They also praised the pioneering efforts of the Elderly Care Home in providing a dignified and nurturing environment for senior citizens, ensuring they receive the care and respect they deserve.
