The two mosques come as part of the department's ongoing efforts to build and develop mosques in all suburbs and cities of the emirate, in line with the visions and aspirations of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and to enable citizens and residents to perform rituals and worship with peace and ease.
"Al Sahabi Al Tufayl bin Malik" mosque is built in Suhaila 3 area in Al Dhaid city, on a total land area of 2163 square metres, which includes the prayer hall and service facilities, and the mosque can accommodate 600 worshipers, including a women's prayer hall accommodating 50 worshipers.
In Khorfakkan, the department opened the "Umm Habib bint Al Awam" mosque in Al Harai residential area, built on a total area of 1930 square metres, including a prayer hall and its service facilities. The mosque can accommodate 400 worshipers, 50 of which are for women.
The two mosques are distinguished by their diverse architectural styles that blend different Islamic and modern styles, and were built at the expense of benefactors.
His Excellency Abdullah Khalifa Yarouf Al Sabousi, Chairman of Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs, praised the efforts of benefactors in the emirate and what they provide in order to build and care for mosques, calling on God Almighty to reward them for what they have provided, stressing the department's continued efforts to open 20 mosques in different suburbs and cities of Sharjah with the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
