ELIA to host 2nd Medical Libraries Forum tomorrow

Sharjah 24: Starting tomorrow, Monday at the University of Sharjah, the Second Medical Libraries Forum will The Emirates Library and Information Association (ELIA) coordinates the event in association with the Special Libraries Association-Arabian Gulf Chapter (SLA-AGC).
The forum will gather professionals in the field of libraries and information from both inside the UAE and beyond to address strategies to improve the function of medical libraries in supporting scientific research and developing education.

Promoting collaboration and innovation

The event seeks to increase information sharing, enhance cooperation among medical libraries, and grow librarian professional networks. Participants will investigate creative ideas that help define medical libraries going forward.

Key discussion topics

The conversation will centre on evaluating the present situation of medical libraries, including their infrastructure and resources, as well as addressing issues impeding efficient service delivery in the academic and medical communities—that is, researchers, students, and healthcare professionals.

Utilising technology to advance libraries

"At the Special Libraries Association, we try to highlight the difficulties facing medical libraries," said Dr. Hassan Al-Sereihy, President of the Arabian Gulf Chapter. We think this session will be crucial in investigating creative ideas using contemporary technology such as artificial intelligence and big data to enhance medical library services."

Platform for knowledge exchange

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Library and Information Association Fahad Al Mamari underlined that the meeting provides a significant venue for medical library professionals to share knowledge and ideas in order to improve services for researchers and healthcare professionals. He confirmed their will to increase the contribution of medical libraries to assist scientific development and educate the next generations.
