Alisher Khaliyarov highlights importance of AUS MUN Conference

Sharjah 24: The 18th edition of the annual American University of Sharjah Model United Nations (AUSMUN) began today, Friday, at the American University of Sharjah and will run until February 23.

The conference has attracted over 1,100 students from more than 40 schools across the UAE, along with over 40 international participants from four countries, including Qatar, Ethiopia, and Morocco.

Dr. Alisher Khaliyarov, Lead Faculty Advisor of the AUS MUN 2025 Executive Board, highlighted the significance of the conference, which has become one of the most prominent events for university and high school students in the UAE, particularly at the American University of Sharjah. "We have built a strong reputation in the UAE, and our commitment to hosting this conference annually for 18 years reflects our dedication to providing students with a unique opportunity to engage in diplomacy," he said.

The AUS MUN conference, hosted by the Department of International Studies (INS) at AUS, offers students the chance to represent different countries, immerse themselves in real-world diplomatic scenarios, and experience a United Nations-like environment. It serves as an invaluable platform for fostering international awareness, collaboration, and leadership skills among young students.
