Sharjah 24: As part of its participation in the UAE Innovation Month, "UAE Innovates 2025," the University of Sharjah (UOS) showcased over 40 research and innovative projects, including 16 prototypes and two startup companies, presented by members of its faculty and student from various colleges. The two-day exhibition, held at the Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park (SRTI Park), featured a range of interactive activities, events, workshops, and competitions highlighting innovation in different areas of research and its applications in everyday life.

Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fostering innovation and creativity by supporting research projects and pioneering ideas developed by its students and research teams. Participants from UoS included students from the Colleges of Computing and Informatics, Engineering, Pharmacy, Fine Arts and Design, Sciences, Business Administration, and Health Sciences, as well as research teams from the Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering, and the Research Institute of Medical and Health Sciences.

UOS participants showcased projects that focused on environmental sustainability, with innovative solutions for recycling plastic into construction and interior design materials, as well as the development of soundproof wall panels made from recycled materials such as eucalyptus trees. Advanced technologies were also a key focus, with projects utilizing artificial intelligence and the metaverse to transform national and Arab heritage sites into interactive experiences, along with initiatives linking cloud computing to pharmaceutical and medical services. Additionally, circular economy projects explored ways to repurpose clothing and textiles and introduced smart applications for auditing and verifying academic certificates.

These thrilling initiatives reflect the University of Sharjah’s dedication to creating an innovative research environment and supporting projects that contribute to sustainable development, further strengthening its position as a leading academic and research institution in the UAE and the region.
