Glenn Gainor at Xposure: Very excited to amplify voices in Sharjah

Sharjah 24: On the sidelines of the various activities held at the 9th Xposure International Photography Festival, Glenn Gainor, Head of Physical Production for Amazon Original Movies, reflected on his immense experience in film production, sharing insightful thoughts that add value to the artistic and cultural aspects of Xposure.

Reflecting on the importance of storytelling

In statements to “Sharjah 24”, he stated that he is reflecting on the importance of storytelling and how to amplify voices, recalling a time when he was making a film in United Arab Emirates some years ago and brought Hollywood crew to the region, during which a young Emirati woman was interviewed, and she was asked what's the most important thing she saw in Hollywood in telling a story. She said: “I wish I could be a director because so many people know who the American teenager is. But very few people know my voice.”

Amplifying voices and crossing cultural barriers

He highlighted that this is what makes this opportunity to amplify local voices so exciting, crossing cultural barriers and stimulating people about the fantastic stories that are told right here and now in Sharjah, expressing thanks and appreciation to the efforts of Sharjah government.
