Sharjah24: The ninth edition of the Xposure International Photography Festival 2025 returns this year, showcasing a stunning collection of images captured by a diverse array of talented photographers. Each photograph tells a unique story, reflecting the spirit, passion, and aspirations of its creator. Among the featured artists is the inspiring Sebastian Copeland, a renowned photographer and polar explorer. His breathtaking work not only captures the stark beauty of the polar landscapes but also serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need to protect our planet.
Sebastian Copeland affirmed that photography is fundamentally designed to evoke emotions, yet one of the pressing issues facing the world today is the disconnect between human activities and the natural environment. He emphasised that the misalignment between human and nature philosophies highlights the potential of photography as a powerful medium for fostering connection. He underscored that by capturing images that create a sense of attachment to environments many may never visit, photography can generate emotions that resonate deeply. When viewers feel this emotional connection, it can inspire them to take action, ultimately bridging the gap between humanity and nature.
The "Vanishing" exhibition
Sebastian Copeland presented an attractive exhibition at Xposure under the name “Vanishing” which is particularly relevant to the environment in places like Sharjah. He stated that in his opinion, ice and sun have much in common; they respond in contrasting ways to the impacts of climate change while also influencing each other, affirming that the melting of ice sheets contributes to rising sea levels, which significantly affects coastal regions such as Sharjah.
