10th Int’l Scout Gathering explore universe’s wonders at SAASST

Sharjah 24: 300 scouts from 80 countries visited the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology, as part of the events for the 10th International Scout Gathering, taking place in Sharjah in 2025.

The tour was designed to help people learn more about space science.

The Scout Gathering program aims to offer a variety of experiences in sports, culture, and science.

Cordial reception

The SAASST welcomed the scouts and took them on a tour of the academy, where they explored various departments and received detailed explanations about the academy’s work in space exploration.

The scouts discovered some of the exciting academy’s projects, including research on satellites, space observation, and studying climate in space

The group experienced the academy’s telescopes, which help keep track of space events. They observed the sun and the dark spots on its surface, and they learned how astronomers watch and study different celestial objects in the sky.

Exhibition experience

At the astronomy exhibition hall, the scouts enjoyed a realistic show of planets and galaxies and learned fascinating facts about the universe and how it keeps growing. This experience sparked their curiosity and passion for exploration. The academy's experts also held a beginner-friendly workshop that explained the basics of astronomy and emphasized why exploring space is essential for understanding our planet and the changes happening in our environment.

On their tour, the group visited a gallery filled with amazing photos of space, showcasing spectacular events like meteors and eclipses. They learned about the history of exploring the universe and how Arab scientists have played an important role in astronomy. They engaged with the information, asking plenty of questions that showed just how interested they were in this fascinating field of science.

At the end of their visit, the scouts shared how pleased they were with the scientific experience they had. They felt that this visit added a new layer of knowledge to their scouting adventure. They highlighted that the academy is an impressive institution that showcases Sharjah’s commitment to promoting science and knowledge among young people. The scouts also expressed their gratitude to the academy’s staff for the warm welcome and the valuable information they gained during their time there.
