Tottenham moves closer to Europa League round of 16 qualification

The victory pushed Tottenham to 14 points, keeping them in fourth place, while Hoffenheim remains stuck on six points and risks being eliminated from the competition.

Tottenham got off to a strong start with James Maddison scoring in the third minute, followed by Son Heung-min doubling the lead in the 22nd. Hoffenheim pulled one back in the 68th minute through Anthony Stach, but Son restored Tottenham’s two-goal advantage with a third in the 77th minute. David Netoso scored a late goal for Hoffenheim in the 88th minute, but it wasn't enough.

Lyon draws closer to qualification

Lyon is also edging towards qualification after a goalless draw against Fenerbahçe in Turkey.

With 14 points, Lyon sits third, just two points behind Lazio and Athletic Bilbao, who have already confirmed their places in the next round. Lyon leads Tottenham on goal difference in fourth, while Fenerbahçe is on nine points in 19th place.
