UOS's College of Health Sciences holds its first council meeting

Sharjah24: The College of Health Sciences at the University of Sharjah convened the inaugural meeting of its advisory council, chaired by Her Excellency Sheikha Jamila bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. The meeting was attended by His Excellency Professor Hamid Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University, Professor Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs, Professor Mohamad Alameddine, Dean of the College, and Professor Tareq Osaili, Vice Dean.

Her Excellency Sheikha Jamila's Welcome

In her opening remarks, Her Excellency Sheikha Jamila welcomed the council members, representing leading institutions in the health and community sectors, and expressed her appreciation for their role in fostering collaboration and enhancing the College of Health Sciences' impact. She commended the college’s significant growth and contributions to the healthcare workforce in recent years, stating, “Let us build on these achievements and work together towards our shared vision of excellence and innovation in health and social services. This includes strengthening community partnerships and expanding training opportunities for students to integrate them seamlessly into various institutions.”

His Excellency Professor Hamid Al Naimiy's Address

His Excellency Professor Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah extended his welcome to the attendees on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, President of the University of Sharjah. He highlighted the distinguished standing of the University of Sharjah among local and international institutions, citing its extensive student body, diverse colleges, academic programs, research institutes, and centers. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with the college, one of the largest in the University, to provide recommendations that will enhance the academic and research environment across all its programs.

Professor Salah Taher Al Haj on Advisory Councils

Professor Salah Taher Al Haj outlined the role of advisory councils in supporting strategic planning, fostering local and international academic relations, and providing students with practical training opportunities. He underscored the council’s role in bridging academic learning with real-world expertise to empower students with the skills needed for the labor market.

Professor Mohamad Alameddine's Address

Professor Mohamad Alameddine provided an overview of the college’s academic programs, academic specializations, faculty members, and students. He also shared the college’s plans to introduce specialized programs that address community needs.

The meeting discussed key recommendations to align academic and scientific advancements in health sciences and to strengthen partnerships with public and private health institutions for collaborative programs that prepare graduates for evolving market demands.

The advisory council includes prominent members such as His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization; His Excellency Issa Hilal Al-Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council; Dr. Khalifa Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of University Hospital Sharjah; Aisha Ali Al-Mehri, Executive Director of Burjeel Hospitals in Al Ain; Sheikha Najla Al-Mulla, Director of Central Laboratories at Sharjah Municipality; Dr. Muna Tahlak, Vice President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences; Dr. Abdulkarim Al Zarouni, Director of the Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Center; Dr. Mustafa Al Hashimi, Head of Government Communication at Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital; Dr. Hatem Abu Al Abbas, Medical Director at the Ministry of Health; Arwa Saif, Head of Physiotherapy at Al Baraha Hospital in Dubai; and Dr. Sumaya Al Balushi, Director of Nursing at Emirates Health Services.
