Sharjah 24: On Saturday, January 18, 2025, Al Dhaid Camel Racecourse hosted the inaugural "Fatameen" (Weanling) age group camel races, which were patronised by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and attended by Abdullah Mohammed Muadhd bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club.

15 races

The event had 15 races over a 1,200-meter course, with 10 for local participants from Al Dhaid, two "Sa'oub" races for Al Dhaid locals, and four for foreign athletes from the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Consistent with Sharjah Ruler’s directions

Al Ketbi underlined that the Fatameen age group races at Al Dhaid Racecourse provide a valuable chance for camel owners from across the UAE to compete with their "Fatameen" camels. This project is consistent with His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's directions to conserve the country's rich historical heritage, as camel racing is an important aspect of the UAE's history.
