The visit, which took place on Monday, was part of the SCC's work for the second regular session of the eleventh legislative term.
The delegation was headed by Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Family Affairs Committee. It also included Halima Hamid Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the Council, and several members from the Family Affairs Committee, such as Rashid Ghanem Al Shamsi, Abdullah Al Badawi Al Hosani, and Dr. Hind Al Hajri, among others.
The delegation was warmly received by Abdullah Ali bin Howaiden, Director of the Department's Branches in the Central Region, along with other branch directors and staff.
The four visits to the department’s branches in the central region included a thorough review of the services offered, aimed at achieving social stability and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
The two SCC committees were introduced to various health and treatment services. These included home care, medication provision, chronic condition treatment, and physical therapy for care recipients, as well as social support programs for women, children, and the elderly.
Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji emphasized the importance of monitoring social performance to enhance service quality. He noted that the visit provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with branch leaders and to observe their efforts in delivering essential social and health services.
Al Tunaiji highlighted that the series of visits to SSSD branches fosters constructive cooperation between government and community entities. This is crucial for improving service quality in line with the community's growing needs, following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.
During the initial visit to the SSSD branch in Al Bataeh, the delegation learned about programs designed to empower women and families, as well as support for productive families and the elderly.
The delegation was briefed on the services provided at the Al Bataeh branch, including home visits for the elderly and bedridden citizens, all under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi.
At the Social Services Department branch in Dhaid, branch managers provided insights into home care efforts, volunteer initiatives, and the handling of child protection reports in coordination with relevant authorities.
In the Mleiha branch, managers discussed ongoing plans and programs for psychological and social care services for children affected by family challenges, as well as the provision of monthly cash assistance and urgent interventions.
During the visit to the Al Madam branch, managers reviewed their continuous work to enhance community cohesion and provide various social care services, including medical visits for citizens at home.
Throughout the visits, SCC members met with citizens benefiting from departmental services, gathering their opinions and suggestions. Citizens praised SSSD's role in fostering social solidarity.
Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji concluded the visits by commending the dedicated efforts of the teams in the four SSSD branches. He reiterated SCC's commitment to collaborating with SSSD to deliver exceptional services aimed at building a stable and prosperous society in Sharjah, while adhering to international standards for social sustainability.
