During the festival, the foundation set up a special sports area for girls aged 6 to 12. Here, children participated in a variety of open sports activities, including Taekwondo and Judo. Coaches from the Rubu’ Qarn Training Centers led these sessions, allowing the kids to explore these sports outdoors and discover their interests.
Additionally, the foundation hosted an evening discussion titled “Why Sports?” which focused on the importance of sports for children and the benefits it brings. Three inspiring female speakers from the Rubu’ Qarn Training Centres and Sharjah Women’s Sports Club shared their personal stories, encouraging the girls present to consider their own potential in sports.
Noura Al Hamar, the Head of Community Sports at the SWS, emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to promoting sports as an essential part of life. She stated, “Through events like this, we aim to discover new talents and support young girls while providing inspiring opportunities for them to explore their love for sports.”
At the festival, the Scientific Center for Research and Development of Sports Performance also took part by setting up a special area to conduct physical tests for the children. These tests included activities to measure flexibility, check jumping abilities, and assess strength, as well as basic measurements like height and weight.
Dr. Al Mukhtar Shatara, the Director of the Scientific Center, explained that these tests help identify girls with athletic potential and gather important information about children's physical abilities in the region. The goal is to create accurate standards that reflect local characteristics, which will help in building a solid foundation to support community sports development.
Through their involvement in this event, the SWS reinforced their dedication to fostering a love of sports and supporting women’s athletics. This festival marks another step towards creating a vibrant sports community that nurtures the next generation of girls and promotes a lasting sports culture in the emirate.
