University Student Award
The "University Student Award for the Highest Volunteer Contributions" is open to university students across the UAE. It recognises the student who has completed the highest number of volunteer hours across various activities within one year.
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be enrolled in a UAE university or college.
- They should not be employed.
- Their age should range between 17 and 25 years.
- Volunteer activities must be completed within the year of participation, totalling over 100 hours.
Submission requirements:
- A certificate of volunteer hours issued exclusively by official volunteering platforms.
- Three recommendation letters or evaluation forms from the institutions where volunteering took place.
- Optional: photographs of participation in volunteering programmes.
School Student Award
The "Volunteer Knight Award for the Highest Volunteer Contributions" is aimed at recognising school students who achieve the highest number of volunteer hours.
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be enrolled in a UAE school.
- They must be aged 13 years or older.
- A minimum of 100 volunteer hours within community opportunities is required.
- Activities must be age-appropriate and ensure the student’s safety.
Submission requirements:
- A certificate of volunteer hours issued exclusively by official volunteering platforms.
- Three recommendation letters or evaluation forms from the institutions where volunteering took place.
- Optional: photographs of participation in volunteering programmes.
Promoting volunteer culture
Fatima Musa Al Balushi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, highlighted the award’s mission to enhance a culture of volunteerism among students while instilling values of giving and social responsibility. She emphasised the importance of encouraging students to engage in voluntary activities, which play a significant role in developing their personal skills and strengthening their connection to the community.
Al Balushi praised the efforts of universities and schools that integrate volunteer hours into student activities, calling on students to seize this opportunity to contribute to fostering a spirit of volunteerism and altruism.
