Carlson shared his views during a keynote session titled “The New Rules of Influence” at the 1 Billion Followers Summit, the world’s largest event focused on the content economy. The session, moderated by Saeed Al Eter, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Projects, delved into the critical topics of leadership and influence in today’s world.
Carlson highlighted Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s long-term vision for the UAE, which goes beyond a decade, positively impacting every aspect of the country. He emphasised how the UAE’s leadership fosters excellence, hard work, and global recognition, stating that these are some of the significant strengths of the UAE.
Reflecting on his journalistic experiences, Carlson discussed the changing media landscape, particularly the shift from traditional media to social media platforms. He acknowledged the role of social media in democratising information, making it widely accessible and distributing it rapidly.
Carlson noted, "Information is power and authority," and spoke about how, traditionally, media monopolized information dissemination, but now social media has taken a leading role. He also referred to the pivotal moments when social media played a significant role in events such as the Los Angeles wildfires.
Looking ahead, Carlson predicted that news related to the White House will dominate, while social media platforms will continue to shape the media landscape. He also emphasised that digital news platforms are focusing on preparing influential leaders to deliver reliable information in the coming years.
