86 horses compete in the Sharjah Ruler's Cup Race

Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club will host the "Sharjah Ruler's Cup Race" tomorrow, Sunday.

The event, organised in collaboration with the Emirates Horse Racing Authority, will feature the participation of 86 horses.

Race details

The race will take place at the Sharjah Longines track and will consist of six rounds with varying distances and levels. Sponsored by Longines, and supported by the Sharjah Sports Council and Sharjah Sports Channel, the competition promises exciting races for purebred Arabian horses, locally produced horses, and more.

First round: Longines Legend Diver Round

  • Horses: Purebred Arabian horses, born in the UAE, aged four and older
  • Distance: 1200m
  • Prizes: Up to 40,000 AED
  • Participants: 16 horses (4 on reserve)

Second round: Longines Spirit Flyback Round

  • Horses: Purebred Arabian horses, aged four and older, handicap classification
  • Distance: 1700m
  • Prizes: Up to 40,000 AED
  • Participants: 16 horses (2 on reserve)

Third round: Longines Spirit Zulu Time Round

  • Horses: Purebred Arabian horses, born in the UAE, aged four and older
  • Distance: 2000m
  • Prizes: 40,000 AED
  • Participants: 16 horses

Fourth round: Sharjah Marathon (Presented by Longines Conquest)

  • Horses: Purebred Arabian horses, aged five and older
  • Distance: 2700m
  • Prizes: 70,000 AED
  • Participants: 12 horses

Fifth round: His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah Cup (Presented by Longines)

  • Horses: Purebred Arabian horses (Hayba) from the UAE, aged four and five
  • Distance: 1700m
  • Prizes: 250,000 AED
  • Participants: 12 horses

Sixth round: Longines Mini Dolce Vita Round

  • Horses: Purebred horses, classified
  • Distance: 2000m
  • Prizes: 40,000 AED
  • Participants: 10 horses

Closing the season

The event will conclude the 2024-2025 Sharjah Longines Racetrack racing season. The committee will also announce the champion of the owners for the season. This award, sponsored by the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, aims to encourage breeders and owners in the UAE, under the guidance of Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the club.
