Sharjah 24: The magic of Khaleeji music and melodies returns to Khorfakkan as the city on Sharjah’s east coast begins the New Year with a grand concert at Khorfakkan Amphitheatre on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Overlooking the spectacular Khorfakkan beach and other natural wonders of the city, Khorfakkan Amphitheatre will host the Saudi oud maestro Abadi Al-Johar and young Saudi singer Zeina Emad.

Turning melodies into unforgettable memories

With more than five decades of artistic creativity, Saudi legend Abadi Al-Johar has engraved his name in the history of Arabic music since he began performing in 1968. The singer and composer is celebrated as 'Akhtabout al-Oud' (the Octopus of the Oud) thanks to his exceptional oud-playing skills, which made his stringed instrument a tool that tells musical stories that touch hearts.

Al-Johar is not just a skilled player but a gifted composer who has performed with some of the greatest artists in the Arab world. One of his most popular works with the late artist Talal Maddah was the song "Tawila Ya Durub Al-Ashiqin," which was released in 1978. He joined the late artist Warda Al-Jazairia in a duet titled "Zaman Ma Hu Zamani," released in 2012, confirming his position as one of the greatest musicians in the region.

Al-Johar is known for his mastery over the oud and strong emotional bond with the instrument. He does not see oud as a musical instrument, but a partner in his artistic journey. He has developed innovative playing styles that have become reference points for generations of musicians.
