Sharjah24: Dr. Talal Al Junaibi, an Emirati poet, emphasised that the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival has established itself as a key venue for poets and artists from the Arab world, following 21 successful editions. He highlighted the importance of this yearly festival, which brings together artists on Sharjah's cultural platform.

Celebrating Sharjah’s commitment to Arab cultural heritage

Dr. Talal Al Junaibi conveyed his appreciation for the honour bestowed upon him by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, at the inaugural ceremony of the 21st edition of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival held at the Sharjah Cultural Palace.

In comments to “Sharjah24”, Al Junaibi emphasised that being awarded the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Award represents not only a personal achievement but also a recognition of the lasting significance of poetry as a vital component of Arab literary heritage and cultural identity. The award, he noted, signifies Sharjah's dedication to poetry, the Arabic language, culture, and the principles upheld by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

At the opening ceremony, Al Junaibi presented a poetry reading, highlighting his gratitude for His Highness’s ongoing support of poetry and poets, both locally and throughout the Arab world. The event included readings by Syrian poet Hussein Al Abdullah and Omani poet Talal Al Salti, as well as the awarding of the winners of the Sharjah Award for Arabic Poetry Criticism.
