Over 2500 participants in ‘Warriors of Arabia’ Race in Khorfakkan

Sharjah 24: Amidst the charming nature of Khorfakkan and against the backdrop of its majestic mountains and stunning beach, more than 2,500 competitors participated today, Saturday, in the ‘Warriors of Arabia’ Championship, the largest obstacle and endurance race in the country, organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau.
The Warriors of Arabia Championship got off to a beautiful start in the refreshing early morning breeze of the city, loved as the Bride of the East Coast, bringing together adventure lovers and challenging sports enthusiasts from various nationalities from all over the United Arab Emirates. The race kicked off from the grand Roman-style Khorfakkan Amphitheatre overlooking the Khorfakkan beach with the enthusiastic participation of people from various age groups.

The Championship allowed the participants to enjoy a rich adventure and touristic experience during which they learned about the various attractions offered by Khorfakkan, the exceptional city on the east coast of the emirate.

Participants in the ‘Warriors of Arabia’ tournament were divided into two main categories for adults and children starting from four years old.

The first race targeting adults included two categories - a 4 km race with 15 challenges and an 8 km race with 20 challenges.

The open race for children aged 4 to 14 years was divided into two categories, a 600 metre race for children aged 4 to 9 years and a 1,200 meter race for children aged 10 to 14 years.

Participants took on the challenge of scaling walls and negotiating barbed wire barriers, crawling, running and swinging on ropes, and were divided into two main categories for adults and children starting from four years old.

As the organiser, the SGMB, stressed, the unique endurance race aimed to encourage, engage and inspire the community to be more active and adopt a healthy and sporting lifestyle in accordance with Sharjah’s vision to build a healthy community while giving individuals an exceptional tourism experience.

The Championship received the attention and sponsorship of many government and private institutions, including Sharjah Police General Command, Sharjah Civil Defense Authority, Khorfakkan Hospital, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, Zulal Water Factory, Sharjah Department of Social Services, Khorfakkan City Municipality, Khorfakkan Sports and Cultural Club, Bee’ah Group, Sharjah Sports Council, University of Sharjah and Oceanic Hotel.
