The initiative aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of 40 young participants from GCC countries, emphasizing the development of technological innovation and leadership excellence, thereby enabling the youth to become future leaders and innovators.
The Rubu-Qarn Center for Science and Technology organized two important workshops. Dr Saeed Khalfan Al Dhaheri, the Director of the Future Studies Centre at the University of Dubai and President of the Robotics and Automation Society, led the first session, "Ethics of Technology." This session explored the significance of ethical considerations in technological development. The session addressed fundamental principles such as safety, justice, transparency, privacy, security, and digital rights, all of which are vital for responsible innovation.
Dr Al Dhaheri also discussed the challenges associated with an over-reliance on generative AI applications, including their potential to stifle human creativity. He commended the Gulf youth for their awareness and their measured approach to using such tools as enhancements to human performance rather than substitutes.
Eng. Khalid Al Awadhi, the founder of Rimal, moderated the second workshop on the "Internet of Things (IoT)." This session offered participants a comprehensive insight into the history of IoT, its various applications, and the foundational technologies that support this transformative domain.
Al Awadhi emphasized the practical uses of IoT in everyday life and its potential to aid sustainable development. By sharing his entrepreneurial journey, he inspired the participants with his experiences in founding and expanding his company, highlighting the importance of resilience, innovation, and leadership in attaining success.
Ashwaq Ahmed Bu Ali, a leadership consultant with expertise in motivation and capacity building, conducted a "Self-Leadership" workshop at the Rubu' Qarn Life Skills Centre. Bu Ali examined the idea of self-leadership from an Islamic perspective, drawing on the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH).
She detailed the stages and components of self-leadership, emphasizing how individuals can leverage it to fulfil personal and professional goals. Bu Ali highlighted the significance of values, referencing a quote from Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation: “Building the individual begins with building values.” She emphasized essential values like empathy, humility, tolerance, humanity, learning, growth, and emotional intelligence, illustrating how these principles can serve as foundations for navigating challenges and fostering a confident future.
The "Bridges of the Gulf" (Jusoor Khaleejiya) programme embodies a holistic vision, aiming to create a supportive environment that equips Gulf youth to lead with creativity, honesty, and insight. The programme empowers participants with skills that meet future demands, aligning with the aspirations of GCC leaders while ensuring that participants honour the cultural and societal values of their communities.
The initiative has showcased its dedication to nurturing a new generation of Gulf leaders through a series of workshops, interactive sessions, and mentorship opportunities. These efforts aim to equip them to tackle global challenges while remaining grounded in the traditions and values of their nations.
