Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) recently organised its first workshop on the electronic portal for the "Treasure of Intangible Cultural Heritage," in collaboration with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The event took place at the Arab Heritage Centre, which is affiliated with the Institute. The workshop brought together academic researchers and specialists to explore the scientific and cognitive aspects of the project.

During the session, the focus was on the digital templates used in the development of the electronic version of the treasure. Participants discussed the mechanisms for ensuring accurate and organised content, as well as the portal’s user-friendly navigation. The session also highlighted the general design and technical components of the portal, which aims to be an advanced reference tool for preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage.

The project aims to create a comprehensive digital platform dedicated to documenting the intangible cultural heritage of the Arab world. It seeks to provide accurate data and classifications in line with international standards. The portal will enhance academic research and offer an integrated database to help preserve cultural heritage while connecting it with various cultural institutions and entities.

The Institute is working in cooperation with cultural institutions and experts to finalise the development of the electronic portal. Further phases of the project will be announced soon, including additional workshops and operational tests. This initiative underscores the Sharjah Institute for Heritage's commitment to preserving and renewing Arab cultural heritage in the digital era, reinforcing Sharjah's position as a global centre for heritage and culture.

Participants at the workshop commended the Institute's efforts in advancing this important project.
