This participation comes within the framework of the commitment of the ALECGS to its pioneering role in spreading the Arabic language and enhancing cultural and knowledge exchange between Arab countries, which contributes to preserving the linguistic and cultural heritage of the Arab nation.
The celebration included many events and activities that highlighted the importance of the Arabic language in strengthening the cultural and civilisational identity, and its great role in the fields of creativity and innovation.
Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of the Centre, delivered a speech in which he referred to the vital role played by the Centre in spreading and promoting the Arabic language in the Gulf region, and its continuous efforts in developing curricula for teaching the Arabic language and using modern technology to facilitate its learning.
In his speech, Dr. Al Hammadi referred to this year’s theme for the celebration, “Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence: Promoting Innovation while Preserving Cultural Heritage,” stressing the importance of balancing technological progress with preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Arabic language.
He stressed that artificial intelligence represents a unique opportunity to develop Arabic language teaching methods and make them easier and more attractive to learners around the world.
He also pointed out that the Arabic language, which is an integral part of our culture and identity, needs continuous support from all Arab institutions, and the League of Arab States play a leading role in this field. The initiatives and programmes provided by the League aim to promote the use of the Arabic language in various international forums and strengthen its position in the fields of education, media, and culture, reflect the deep commitment to the cultural identity of the Arab world.
He stressed how highly value these efforts that contribute to enhancing mutual understanding among Arab peoples and strengthening the bonds of unity between them. Preserving the Arabic language is not just preserving the language of the Arab nation, but rather preserving our history, customs, values, and civilidational identity that extends across the ages. Through these ongoing efforts by the Arab League, the Arabic language will remain alive, vibrant, and able to face future challenges.
Al Hammadi reviewed the efforts of the ALECGS in the field of developing Arabic language education for speakers of other languages.
In a gesture of appreciation and gratitude, the ALECGS presented an honourary shield to the Arab League, in appreciation of its ongoing efforts to support the Arabic language and maintain its status.
The shield was received by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, who expressed his deep gratitude for this initiative, stressing the importance of continuous cooperation between educational and cultural institutions to enhance the status of the Arabic language at the global level.
