Sharjah24: Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in Kalba , attended the launch of the first edition of Kalba Honey and Dates Festival, organised by Kalba Municipality in collaboration with the Municipal Council. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Jassmi, a member of the organising committee for the Kalba Honey and Dates Festival, revealed that over 50 exhibitors from date and honey-producing companies participated in the first edition of the festival, held at Kalba Beach Park.
In statements to Sharjah 24, Al Jassmi noted that Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr Al Qasimi attended the opening ceremony, along with Khamis Al Mazrouei, Wali of Wadi Al Helo, His Excellency Dr. Obaid Saif Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Kalba Municipal Council, Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Mazrouei, Director of Kalba Municipality, and several officials and representatives from government departments, as well as residents of Kalba .
Al Jassmi added that the festival highlights the date and honey industries, which have been traditional and established food industries in the United Arab Emirates for decades.
He explained that the festival aims to provide optimal purchasing options for visitors, in addition to raising awareness and knowledge about these traditional industries through various educational lectures and training workshops centered around the palm tree and honey production, especially local mountain honey.
