Sharjah24: Saleh Al Tuniji, the general coordinator of the Sharjah Desert Theatre Festival, announced the start of the 8th edition of the festival organised by the Department of Culture in Sharjah in Al-Khohaif area. The festival will run for 5 days from December 13 to 17, presenting a distinctive cultural and artistic experience including theatrical performances representing Arab desert heritage, with participation from various countries including Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt, and Mauritania.
Al Tuniji emphasised in exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24" that the festival includes 5 special nights, Commencing with the Emirati night featuring a play penned by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The cultural nights continue with theatrical performances from Arab countries, hosting works from Tunisia on the second night, followed by Jordan on the third night, Egypt on the fourth night, before concluding with the Mauritanian night.
Al-Tuniji explained that the festival reflects the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah in enhancing theatrical arts and linking them with the desert environment, offering a unique artistic experience that blends heritage and contemporary culture. The festival serves as a platform for communication between Arab artists and the audience, enhancing Sharjah's position as a cultural and creative capital regionally and internationally.
