Sharjah 24: The city of Al Hamriyah is gearing up for its 13th annual Children's Festival, a cherished event organised by Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD). Set to unfold from December 16-26 at Al Hamriyah Heritage Village, this festival has become a cornerstone of the region's cultural calendar.
Far from being just a children's event, Al Hamriyah Festival has evolved into a community-wide celebration, coinciding with school holidays to maximise participation. Maryam Majid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Branch, highlights the festival's broad appeal, attracting not only children and families but also government and private institutions.
The festival boasts a rich tapestry of activities:
- Daily workshops (5-8 per day) from 4 PM to 9 PM, covering topics ranging from ethical values and national identity to safe digital living and cooking.
- Participation from the Sharjah Supreme Council for Family Affairs, offering health education and family counseling workshops.
- Sharjah Book Authority's "Community Heroes" workshop.
- Daily competitions and prizes, including the "Roving Question" contest.
- Showcases by "Intaj" center members, featuring five product lines: Teeb for incense and perfumes, Atayeb for foods, Ibda'a for handicrafts, Anaqa for fashion and accessories, and Mahara for traditional crafts.
- Entertainment games, cultural competitions, educational workshops, and handicrafts appealing to all ages.
- Special participation from senior citizens of the Asala Club.
