Sharjah24: On December 10, 2024, Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation successfully organised the "Mile Challenge" at the Sharjah Olympic Sports Centre for Women, delivering a dynamic and spirited sporting event. Sponsored by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the event highlighted the foundation’s commitment to promoting women’s health and sports.
Wafa Al-Duri claimed victory in both the 100-meter dash and the one-mile walk in the women’s athletics championship. Noor Marwan and Zeina Mehs followed in the 100-meter dash, while Malika Anadova and Malika Tagibieva secured second and third places in the mile walk. The event also featured a half-mile walk category, with all participants receiving commemorative medals to encourage inclusive participation.
Noura Al-Hamr, Head of Community Events, praised the event’s success, emphasising, “This achievement motivates us to continue initiatives that empower women and promote sports as a lifestyle.”
Following the success of last month’s “Amateur Shooting Challenge,” the foundation remains dedicated to hosting sporting events that blend competition, awareness, and the promotion of women’s participation in sports.
In conclusion, the foundation expressed gratitude to all supporting bodies and the organising team, with the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority playing a key role in achieving this milestone.
