Sharjah24: The Shams E-Sports Championship organised by Sharjah Media City concluded at the Shams Business Center after two days of competition from November 22 to 23, 2024. The championship garnered significant interest from e-sports enthusiasts, with over 300 players competing in FIFA 25, Tekken, and Super Smash Bros. tournaments.
During the closing ceremony, the first-place winners were honored. The winning team, comprised of Emirati national team players Ali Al-Hammadi and Mohannad Al-Masmari, secured the FIFA 25 championship title. Arslan Ash claimed the first spot in Tekken, while Sultan Al-Burkani achieved first place in Super Smash Bros. Prizes were also distributed to the second to eighth place winners in each game.
The Shams E-Sports Championship featured players from the UAE national team, Bahrain, as well as professional players from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, and other nationalities. The event received extensive and diverse media coverage, including television broadcasts and social media coverage by local influencers. The tournament was streamed on Sharjah Media City's "Shams" YouTube channel and the Shams Games Twitch account, attracting high viewership and significant audience engagement, reflecting the rapid growth of e-sports in the region.
Sharjah Media City emphasized that the Shams E-Sports Championship serves not only as a competitive platform but also as an opportunity to build a strong community of players. The championship is part of Shams' efforts to enhance the status of these games and e-sports in the Emirate of Sharjah and the United Arab Emirates.
The total value of prizes awarded to winners amounted to AED 100,000, divided into AED 40,000 on the first day for the top 8 players, AED 40,000 on the second day for the top 8 Tekken players, and AED 20,000 for the top 8 Super Smash Bros. players. Additionally, there was a prize wheel with rewards valued up to AED 5,000.
