UOS receives outstanding students from Taiwanese universities

Sharjah24: His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (UoS), in the presence of Sheikh Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Ali bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Founder of the Green Sheikh Academy, and Environmental Advisor to the Ajman Government, received a delegation of outstanding students from Taiwan’s top universities as part of the Scientific Exchange and Research Partnership Program with Taiwan's Youth 2024.The visit aims to establish joint research and scientific partnerships in the fields of technology, environment, and science. The delegation was led by Prof. Greg Lee, Former Vice President of National Taiwan University and a distinguished professor in Information and Computer Science.
During the visit, the UoS Chancellor welcomed the delegation on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah. He provided an overview of the University's vision and achievements and discussed potential avenues for collaboration with Taiwan’s leading universities. He emphasized that this collaboration would provide students with unique opportunities to engage in joint research projects in the fields of technology, environment, and science. He noted that the University of Sharjah is one of the leading educational institutions in the country in terms of education and research. This is reflected in its achievements at the local, regional, and global levels, as well as its commitment to strengthening partnerships with academic institutions and conducting initiatives that contribute to developing innovative research addressing global challenges in various fields. This aligns with the UoS’s ambitious vision to achieve academic excellence.

Sheikh Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Ali bin Rashid Al Nuaimi emphasized that the partnership between the University of Sharjah and Taiwan universities represents an important step toward enhancing scientific research and joint efforts in fields of leadership, sustainability, and technology. The exchange program provide a key platform for the exchange of knowledge and expertise among researchers and innovators, fostering an innovative academic environment. He noted that this visit will open new horizons for research cooperation in areas of common interest, contributing to serving the academic community and sustainable development.

The delegation also met with students from the University of Sharjah to exchange knowledge and expertise, with a focus on enhancing research collaboration in the fields of technology, environment, and science, paving the way for future cooperation and the development of joint projects, further strengthening academic and research partnerships.

The visit also included a tour of the University of Sharjah’s laboratories, where the delegation had the opportunity to explore the university’s facilities and ongoing research projects.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies; Prof. Abdelaziz Soufyane, Director of the Office of International Relations; Dr. Noura Al Karbi, Chair of the Research Outreach Department; as well as Dr. Salim Alsalim, Trainer, Green Sheikh Academy.
