Sharjah24: Al Qasimia University, represented by the Student Happiness Council and under the supervision of the Deanship of Student Affairs, organised a poetry forum titled "In Love of Homeland." The event was attended by His Excellency Professor Awad Al Khalaf, the University Director.
This forum featured remarkable participation from talented female poets from the University of Sharjah, Al Dhaid University, Khorfakkan University, and Kalba University, as well as a participant from the "Knowledge Illuminates" initiative, which focuses on teaching older adults. Students from Al Qasimia University also contributed to the event.
The forum, held yesterday afternoon at the university's premises, was attended by Professor Hassan Al Mulkh, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Ahlam Bin Jarsh, Assistant Chancellor for Female Student Affairs, and Professor Suleiman Al Sarayrah, Dean of Student Affairs. Several faculty members and students from Al Qasimia University were also present. The audience responded enthusiastically to the poems recited, creating an atmosphere filled with love and deep respect for the cherished homeland.
Notably, the timing of this event coincided with the upcoming celebrations of the UAE National Day, making it a meaningful occasion to collectively celebrate this significant national anniversary. The students showcased a series of poems that reflected their loyalty and sense of belonging to the country.
The participants conveyed sincere national feelings through their poetry, each piece expressing great love and pride in the UAE's remarkable achievements across social development, economic progress, and scientific excellence. The poems underscored the UAE as a shining example of modern civilisation.
Some of the poems highlighted the strong national unity between the leadership and the people, reaffirming that this unity remains a source of strength in overcoming challenges and achieving accomplishments. A number of the participants described the UAE as a "pearl," symbolising the values of coexistence and peace that distinguish the country from others.
The poems also paid tribute to the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE, highlighting his pivotal role in building the nation and establishing values of dignity and pride. These qualities are now embodied by the wise leadership that continues to steer the UAE toward further progress and prosperity.
Other poems focused on the sustainable development the country has experienced across various sectors, emphasising the UAE's global standing as a hub for innovation and creativity, strengthening its presence on the world stage. Participants also highlighted the UAE's achievements in empowering women and providing an exceptional educational environment, positioning the country as one of the most advanced in the region and the world.
At the conclusion of the forum, the participating students from various universities were honoured with commemorative gifts, recognising their creativity in expressing national spirit and contributing to the celebration of Emirati values. This event was a true celebration of poetry and the arts as powerful tools of expression for belonging and love for the homeland.
