Sharjah24: The Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub (SSAH) welcomed 70 university students from a range of scientific disciplines as part of its summer field training program. The program is designed as an immersive environment designed to bridge academic learning with practical experience. It aims to equip students and recent graduates with essential professional skills while strengthening their readiness to enter the workforce. By combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on training, the program seeks to develop capable national talent in the fields of space science, astronomy, and advanced technologies.
Participants represent a broad mix of local and international institutions, including the University of Sharjah, the American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates University, Khalifa University, the Higher Colleges of Technology, and the US-based Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, alongside other academic bodies. The diverse participation reflects SSAH’s growing reputation as a comprehensive center for aspiring scientists eager to gain practical exposure in cutting-edge fields.

At the program’s opening, Prof. Mashhoor Al Wardat, director of academic affairs at the hub, welcomed the students and emphasized the institution’s commitment to nurturing young talent through specialized training opportunities. He said the program is designed to enhance students’ employability by connecting academic study with real-world application, while also introducing them to the SSAH’s scientific and technical projects and operational environment.

The program also featured a series of introductory presentations delivered by department heads, who outlined the scope of their work, ongoing projects, and the training opportunities available. These sessions were aimed at helping participants make the most of their experience and align their learning with both academic and professional goals. In addition, students were given a guided tour of the hub’s scientific and educational facilities, where they explored key exhibitions, specialized equipment, and research initiatives. The tour offered insight into the academy’s role in advancing scientific knowledge and fostering a culture of innovation and exploration among young people.
