Sharjah24: In a step to enhance culture, knowledge, and support literary creativity, a delegation from Al-Suyoh District Council, part of the Department of Suburb Affairs, visited a group of authors in the Sharjah International Book Fair.
The delegation, led by His Excellency Youssef Obaid bin Harmool Al-Shamsi, Chairman of the Council, included Harb Al-Rumaithi, Vice Chairman, Abdullah Nasser Al-Nuaimi, and Khalid Salem Al-Nuaimi, all council members. They reviewed the authors' literary works and celebrated their outstanding creativity.
This visit is part of the council's support for local authors as part of its social and cultural responsibilities and its commitment to the work of the Department of Suburb Affairs.
During the visit, the delegation toured the publishing houses that adopted the authors' works, exploring numerous literary publications created by local writers. They praised the displayed works, emphasizing the importance of promoting culture and supporting creative authors in publishing their works.
The council affirmed that visiting the authors reflects its commitment to encouraging creativity among the residents of Al-Suyoh and highlighting their literary contributions.
Among the notable authors visited was Sheikha Al-Hamadi, who wrote the novel "Her," which tells a profound human story reflecting women's contributions to society. Khalid Al-Mazmi presented his works "The Mailman" and "My Heart's Village," noted for their creative narrative blending human and symbolic stories. Also, they met with Reem Faisal Al-Ali, author of "Memory of Place from Old Memories," which details life in the past, enriching the cultural memory of new generations.
The delegation also met with author Ali Al-Madloom Al-Suwaidi, who wrote "The House of a Lifetime," focusing on the importance of the family home as a pillar of society, and Dr. Khamees Al-Muhairi, author of "Combating Doping," which discusses the issue of doping and its impacts. They also engaged with Khalifa Al-Balooshi, author of "The Lost Spirit," reflecting a deep artistic and philosophical vision, and Fatima Anwar Abdullah, author of "The Black Narcissus," who addresses various issues with skillful prose. Additionally, they met with Salem Al-Junaibi, author of "Ahmed Al-Ansari," who tackles social themes.
His Excellency Youssef Obaid bin Harmool Al-Shamsi emphasized that this visit is part of the council's strategy to support writers and creatives in Al-Suyoh , reflecting its commitment to promoting a culture of reading and writing and encouraging youth to engage in literary fields.
He stated, "Literature is a mirror of society, and we are proud to see this group of creative writers in Al-Suyoh excelling in literary and cultural fields. The council is committed to providing continuous support, whether by highlighting their works or organizing cultural events that encourage creativity."
He added, "This visit is part of the council's ongoing efforts to enhance literary culture in Al-Suyoh and provide an optimal environment for artistic creativity and cultural interaction between authors and the public. The council will continue organizing similar events to support all forms of local creativity, whether in literature or other cultural and artistic fields.
