Sharjah24: As part of the activities and initiatives of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, the Council's participation in the 2024 Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) achieved significant success this year. The platform at the fair attracted over 6,000 visitors, including cultural enthusiasts, individuals interested in social and family matters, media professionals, visitors of all age groups, institutions, and partners who actively contributed to the success of this participation.
An Educational Platform and Interactive Space
The platform showcased the outcomes of 4 departments specializing in family affairs from various perspectives. The Family Development Department and its branches responded to over 22 family consultations, presenting more than 5 publications including 'Life Journey,' 'Marital Compatibility,' 'Marital Values Kit,' and other interactive workshops and dialogue sessions. The Child Safety Department offered optimal ways to address challenges children face, raised awareness against bullying, and received positive engagement in the bullying room from parents and students, emphasizing the importance of parents avoiding behaviors that could lead their children to become bullies or victims of bullying. Additionally, the Child Safety Department provided interactive workshops for both adults and children on first aid and other activities. The Health Education Department was notably engaging during the fair, as visitors interacted with health workshops focusing on proper nutrition, safeguarding families from chronic and contemporary diseases through healthy practices and habits. It's worth mentioning that the audience engaged with over 66 diverse workshops led by 21 trainers and specialists at the Council's platform.
Cultural Leadership and Knowledge Contributions
The Cultural Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs reinforced its pioneering role in promoting culture and reading habits through 35 publications, notably the book 'Pioneers of Emirati Theater,' documenting the creative efforts of Emirati artists, particularly in the field of theater, highlighting the contributions of four distinguished actresses: Razika Al Tareesh, Moza Al Mazrouei, Sameera Ahmed, and Maryam Sultan.
Conscious Partnership for a Cohesive Society
Asmaa Hassouni, Director of the Media Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, emphasized that the Council's departments' participation stems from their commitment to providing valuable resources to Emirati families, supporting the familial integration system through marital culture, family cohesion, and guiding on the importance of health for all family members while addressing health threats across generations. The comprehensive awareness campaign focuses on child safety, combating challenges like bullying and child accident risks, underlining the role of partners and sponsors in the Council's participation at the Sharjah International Book Fair, fostering institutional and cultural unity to support family and community work. Hassouni praised the support provided by Sharjah Ladies Club, the Rubu Qarn Foundation for Leadership and Innovation in delivering educational and interactive workshops, in addition to offering motivational prizes by the club. She also lauded the support from Arab Airlines for the major platform competition promoting reading and encouraging book acquisition, inspired by this year's Council platform theme, 'From a Reading Child to a Creative World.'
Furthermore, this year's participation witnessed a significant increase in the number of participants compared to the previous year, thanks to the wide range of activities catering to all family members, attracting various creators and service providers willing to collaborate with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs for a safer and more stable society.
