The training course is part of Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation’s ongoing efforts to develop the skills of orphan students and prepare them for the future.
The course comes within the educational initiatives adopted by the Foundation in the “Teach with Pen” project to support and empower orphans educationally in the Emirate of Sharjah and provide them with skills that enhance their educational opportunities.
The Foundation focused on targeting orphans from twelfth grade and university students with the aim of developing their skills and helping them prepare for the “IELTS” admission exams at universities, by providing free courses for orphan students affiliated with the Foundation.
Ms. Nawal Al Hamdi, Director of the Social Welfare Department at the Foundation, said that the initiative reflects the commitment of the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation to provide the necessary support to orphans in the Emirate of Sharjah, which represents a positive step towards providing them with the tools that enable them to achieve their academic and professional ambitions. The course aims to qualify newly graduated orphan students to master English language skills according to international standards, and develop their skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, which enhances their chances of joining universities and higher education institutions locally and globally. Students participating in the course receive intensive training under the supervision of an elite group of AUS volunteer students, which gives them the opportunity to benefit from advanced educational experiences.
Ms. Nawal Al Hamdi added that the foundation appreciates AUS efforts, and is always proud of this fruitful cooperation. The course comes within the framework of the Foundation’s keenness to enhance the efficiency of orphan students and enable them to build their academic and professional future successfully.
Ms. Nawal Al Hamdi continued explained that the Foundation is keen to support the education of orphans affiliated with the foundation within the “Teach with Pen” project, which adopts many educational support programmes that help students in their educational journey, whether in schools or universities, as the project provides educational programmes that meet the actual needs of orphans’ education, such as contributing to paying tuition fees, providing their educational needs during their study period, and providing them with educational support lessons represented in reinforcement lessons, in addition to including children in various academic courses and workshops, in addition to the academic follow-ups carried out by specialists to provide moral support and academic guidance to them during their study period.”
Professor Aisha Ali, Director of the Community Service and Institutional Communication Department at AUS, said that within the strategies of the Department, which focuses on encouraging students to engage in volunteer work and invest their academic experience in serving the community, one of the most prominent educational initiatives launched by the department is the IELTS preparation course, which aims to help students of the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation pass the exam and meet the requirements for university admission.
Professor Aisha Ali continued by saying that the initiative contributes greatly to enhancing the spirit of social responsibility among students, and also directly benefits orphans who benefit from the Foundation’s services. She also thanked Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation for its continuous cooperation with the Community Service and Institutional Communication Department in various areas of volunteer work, as the Foundation is considered a key partner in volunteer efforts that aim to empower community members and enhance their educational opportunities.
Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation strives to take care of all the needs of orphan students, and devotes a large space to the academic aspect, believing in the importance of education and the necessity of providing education to the orphans, which the segment the project is concerned with, and to which the Foundation has devoted its efforts to provide focused, high-quality services.
