During the visit, he met with the Tunisian Minister of Youth and Sports, Sadek Mourali, to discuss key issues related to the promotion and development of chess in the Arab world.
Sheikh Khalid Al Qasimi described the meeting as highly productive, emphasising the importance of collaborative efforts to spread chess, particularly among schoolchildren. He also highlighted the UAE’s unique role in supporting chess, both locally and regionally, through the UAE Chess Federation and the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, which plays a key role in nurturing young talent.
In addition, Sheikh Khalid Al Qasimi met with Her Excellency Dr. Iman Ahmed Al Salami, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Tunisia, to share the outcomes of his discussions with Tunisian officials. They explored opportunities for sports cooperation between the UAE and Tunisia, including facilitating agreements that could further enhance the development of chess in both countries.
While in Tunisia, Sheikh Khalid Al Qasimi also engaged with heads of various Arab chess federations and delegation members at the Arab Chess Championship. He reiterated the Arab Chess Federation’s commitment to supporting junior players and fostering talent to compete at both the regional and international levels.
