Sharjah24: Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre (TAHKEEM) has announced its participation in Dubai Arbitration Week 2024, one of the most prominent annual legal events in the region, through a discussion session entitled “What Makes Arbitration Effective?” on November 13, 2024 at 9:00 am, at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel – Dubai International Financial Centre.
The session was expertly moderated by Mr. Nassif Abu Melhab, an Executive Committee Member of TAHKEEM and a Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig Limited (Dubai). Joining him were Dr. Asmaa Al Rashid, also an Executive Committee Member of TAHKEEM; Mohieldin Al-Banna, an Executive Committee Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators - UAE Branch and the CEO of QAF Law Firm; Patric McGonigal, Partner and Head of Arbitration and Common Law at Global Advocacy and Legal Counsel; and Mr. Yasser M. El-Hawary, Partner & Head of Dispute Resolution at MAA & PARTNERS..

Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al-Ajla, Director of the Sharjah International Commercial Arbitration Centre (Tahkeem), stated that participation in Dubai Arbitration Week 2024 presents a strategic opportunity to enhance the centre’s regional and international presence, expand professional networks, and facilitate the exchange of expertise with local and international arbitration institutions. The event also allows for learning about the latest practices and developing dispute resolution mechanisms aligned with international standards, thereby reinforcing the centre’s reputation as a provider of smart and independent arbitration services. This supports the centre’s mission to promote a fair and effective arbitration environment, contributing to a sustainable economic environment in Sharjah.

Al Ajla stated that this participation represents a significant step in establishing the “Tahkeem” Center as a leading entity in delivering innovative and effective arbitration solutions. It also aims to facilitate new avenues for collaboration with government and private entities within the UAE, thereby contributing to the formation of strategic partnerships that support the center's growth and development.
