Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Kalba, chaired the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Kalba, on Thursday, at the university’s headquarters.
His Highness pointed out the necessity of preserving the emerging university through monitoring and follow-up to achieve more university efficiency, discipline and academic commitment. 

His Highness praised what the University of Kalba has achieved during the previous period in light of the efforts of its Board of Trustees members, faculty and administrative staff members, and student cooperation.











His Highness the President of the University of Kalba stressed the importance of preparing male and female students from schools for university studies, by improving the educational process and developing curricula, in addition to providing an appropriate educational environment in terms of buildings and facilities, noting that this is the approach taken by Sharjah through the Sharjah Private Education Authority.

His Highness discussed the importance of conducting benchmarking and reviewing best practices to improve the quality of education at the university, stressing the importance of knowledge and university studies to graduate an educated generation with a high level of discipline and good morals, who contribute to serving society.

The meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Kalba discussed several topics on the agenda, which are concerned with establishing and developing educational facilities and following up on academic work at the university.












The Board approved the appointment of Dr. Hassan Salim as Vice Chancellor of the University for Academic Affairs. The Board also approved the annual budget of the University of Kalba, in order to develop academic curricula and educational facilities that contribute to providing a stimulating and appropriate academic and training environment for students.

The Board approved the launch of the EmSAT Centre at the University of Kalba, which meets the academic needs of students who cannot find seats for EmSAT exams. The centre will include 103 computers and will comply with the highest technical standards and educational requirements.

The Board also approved updating the university’s admission requirements, reports on the academic, financial, compliance and internal audit committees, and the Financial Resources Development Committee, as well as the most important recommendations that work to accelerate scientific and academic progress and activate various fields at the university.
















The Board reviewed the report of Dr. Najwa Al Hosani, Chancellor of the University of Kalba, which addressed the progress of work at the university and its many achievements, the most prominent updates made to the facilities of the University of Kalba, and the development plans in terms of building and implementing the sports complex and training grounds according to the highest standards to serve the students of the College of Physical Education, in addition to the service buildings and the proposed interior designs for the buildings and faculty housing.

On the sidelines of the Board of Trustees meeting, His Highness the President of the University of Kalba shook hands with the deans of the colleges and members of the teaching staff. 

His Highness also viewed the new facilities at the university, including the food court, which provides an outlet for selling food and snacks, seating areas for 70 people, and a space for waiting, studying, or working together on scientific projects. It is equipped with facilities that contribute to providing a suitable educational environment for students.














The meeting saw the presence of Dr. Abdulaziz Saeed bin Butti Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority, Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Ali Ahmed Al Hosani, Director of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Dr. Sulaiman bin Sarhan Al Zaabi, former Chairman of the Department of Municipalities Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Saleh Al Suwaiji, Executive Director of the Higher Colleges of Technology in Fujairah, Dr. Maryam Salem Al Marashda, former Dean of Student Affairs at the United Arab Emirates University, Dr. Justin O’Connor, Associate Professor of Physical Education at Monash University, Australia, Faisal Jassim Al Midfa, Head of Business Finance - Sharjah Islamic Bank, Aisha Redha Al Bayraq, former member of the Federal National Council, Bashayer Hassan Al Mansouri, Director of the Public Works Department branch in Kalba City, and Dr. Najwa Al Hosani, Chancellor of the University of Kalba.
