Sharjah 24: Sharjah SME RUWAD, affiliated with Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), held the sixth edition of the series of evenings for the “Made in Sharjah” initiative, with the participation of an elite group of experts who own pioneering projects in the health and beauty sector, showcasing their expertise and successful experience in this industry.
Fatima Al Ali, Acting Director of RUWAD, said that the series of evenings of the “Made in Sharjah” initiative comes as a translation of the directives of Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) to establish a business environment that supports industrial projects and is consistent with RUWAD vision towards preparing national experts capable of launching and managing small and medium-sized companies and increase their contribution to the GDP of the Emirate’s economy, considering these projects as the basic nucleus to enhance creativity and innovation in the services and products provided by these projects, leading to the establishment of a rich industrial base based on technological pillars and taking into account the standards of excellence and quality.
Fatima Al Ali pointed out that the initiative held 6 evenings so far, benefiting 114 participants, and addressed important topics. Topics included setting industrial development plans; analysing the competitive environment; the environmental impact; productivity and global exports; supporting the sustainability aspect of factories in the manufacture and development of various products; in addition to discussing the role of the agricultural sector and supporting sustainability in agriculture and modern methods followed; reviewing the prospects of the confectionery industry sector; the difference in products and production challenges; the investment axis in the restaurant and cloud kitchen sector.
Al Ali explained that the evening hosted by “The House Café”, one of the RUWAD member projects, is the sixth evening in a series of initiative evenings organised by RUWAD, in cooperation with a group of its strategic partners from the public and private sectors, and is considered a new platform in which efforts and expertise are combined to support industrial knowledge, and by focusing on preparing the human skills and capabilities necessary to adopt and succeed in industrial businesses.
Al Ali noted that RUWAD member projects, under the category of health and beauty-related industries and products, amount to 102 projects in various regions and cities of the Emirate, including 72 projects owned by female entrepreneurs, a total of 22 projects for entrepreneurs projects, while the number of joint projects for the two categories amounted to 8 projects.
The agenda of the sixth evening, which was skillfully managed by Dr. Abdullah Al Awadhi, financial advisor and administrative expert, covered several topics in the health and beauty sector, and included a review on the future of the industry in the UAE, and a group discussion on the management, development and support of industrial projects in these two sectors and the most important challenges facing the projects.
