Sharjah24: In a new achievement added to the series of successes by the Emirates Health Services Establishments, the Specialised Kalba Dental Center has earned the title of "Age-Friendly Institution" during the fifth cycle of the "Age-Friendly Institutions Award."
This award is organised by the Sharjah Age-Friendly Program under the supervision of the Social Services Department in Sharjah.
The recognition comes in appreciation of the center's efforts in creating an environment that ensures seniors can easily access care services.
The Kalba Specialty Dental Center achieved 86% of the standards for age-friendly institutions after a series of evaluation visits. This reflects its ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and offer senior-specific services, such as dedicated parking, accessible entrances, ramps, electronic services, and personal assistance, ensuring easy access to care for the elderly.
Dr. Fatima Saeed Al Kaabi, Director of the Kalba Specialty Dental Center, stated that the recognition as an "Age-Friendly Institution" is a significant achievement, reinforcing the center’s role in providing specialized, sustainable care for seniors. She noted that this reflects the Emirates Health Services' commitment to creating flexible designs that meet the needs of all community members, aligned with the UAE’s vision to enhance the well-being and quality of life, particularly for the elderly.
The award results were announced at the 13th Senior Services Forum, encouraging institutions to develop programs that support and integrate seniors into society. Based on eight criteria from the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities, institutions are evaluated every three years, needing to meet at least 80% of the standards to ensure a comfortable environment for seniors.
