The two publications are part of the association's commitment to spreading knowledge and raising awareness on pressing social issues, as well as its efforts to support local authors in producing valuable works. The first book focuses on drug prevention, while the second addresses community rehabilitation programs for people of determination.
The first book, titled "Drug Prevention Campaigns in Sharjah: An Evaluative Study," is authored by Dr. Saleh Jumaa Al-Marashda. This book tackles the issue of drugs, one of the most significant social challenges affecting communities today. The author provides a detailed analysis of data and practices related to drug prevention campaigns, highlighting effective strategies that have helped combat this phenomenon. The book emphasizes the importance of collective efforts between government institutions, individuals, and associations in fighting drugs, with Dr. Al-Marashda calling on community actors to engage with and contribute to this critical issue.
The second book, titled "The Effectiveness of Community Rehabilitation Programs for People of Determination: A Perspective Based on the Lived Experiences of Beneficiaries," is authored by Alia Al-Shehhi. This book holds special importance given the ongoing efforts to develop support and rehabilitation strategies for people of determination. In her work, Al-Shehhi provides a deep analysis of the available programs, focusing on the experiences of the beneficiaries. This offers comprehensive insights into the real effectiveness of these initiatives. The book aims to improve policies and practices related to the rehabilitation of people of determination by reviewing personal experiences and the testimonies of individuals who have benefited from these programs.
Both books will be available at the association’s booth during the upcoming Sharjah International Book Fair in November, offering the public an opportunity to explore the latest research and studies in these important fields.
Dr. Muhammad Hamdan bin Jarsh, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Cultural Committee, stated: “The Sociological Association, as part of its knowledge roles and its efforts to encourage Emirati authors, is proud to publish these two books, which represent an important step toward enhancing community knowledge and awareness of social issues.”
Bin Jarsh added: “Through this qualitative approach, and the association’s Board of Directors' commitment to supporting young writers, we aim to continue adopting this vision to promote efforts and enrich the contributions of young creative authors, particularly in addressing social issues such as drug prevention and the rehabilitation of people of determination.”
