Sharjah 24: The delegation of the Sharjah Charity International (SCI), headed by Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, has completed its humanitarian missions during its field tour in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, which aimed to support the infrastructure of the health and education sectors and restore hope in life to the souls of children suffering from very serious heart diseases.
Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said that this visit came in implementation of what was stated in the annual plan and in accordance with reports and studies on the areas most in need and the type of projects most appropriate to cover the needs of those areas.
The Republic of Kyrgyzstan is one of the countries that were recently added to the foreign aid programmes implemented by the SCI in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He pointed out that the visit focused primarily on implementing a number of projects that serve the infrastructure and enhance the spread of services to citizens in various remote areas, represented in laying the foundation stone for the Al Reeh Al Mursala clinic on an area of 350 square metres in the Bishkek region, which is scheduled to provide health care to residents of the region and neighbouring areas in general medicine, pediatrics, the ear, nose and throat department, another for women and obstetrics, a medical laboratory and an X-ray machine.
Two water networks were also inaugurated from the account of Al Reeh Al Mursala donors, with a length of 15,000 metres, containing a tank with a capacity of 100 tons to provide potable drinking water to 4,000 beneficiaries each in two separate areas, in addition to laying the foundation stone for a charitable complex that includes a mosque on an area of 220 square metres and can accommodate up to 800 worshipers, a clinic to provide health care to residents of the Alam Al Din region, and an educational school.
He added that the visit included implementing a number of projects that serve sustainability goals and empower beneficiaries by distributing 20 sewing machines from the account of Dirham Al Hamad donors to female sewing and embroidery workers, in addition to distributing 500 food baskets among needy families. Meanwhile, the campaign to combat blindness and poor vision was launched, which performed 150 operations for eye patients, in addition to providing eyeglasses and necessary medications, while the Little Hearts campaign succeeded in performing 20 successful catheterisation surgeries for children with heart diseases.
The delegation concluded its programme by implementing the first mass wedding project in Kyrgyzstan, marrying 50 young men who are about to get married, as part of helping young people build a family.
Sheikh Saqr Al Qasimi explained that the tour was of great importance as it embodied the value and impact of volunteer work through the Little Hearts Campaign team concerned with implementing catheterisation and open-heart surgeries for children with heart diseases, headed by the Emirati volunteer doctor Ahmed Al Kamali, a pediatric cardiology consultant at Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital in the Emirate of Sharjah.
He added that the set of charitable programmes implemented carry the values of giving and express the value of humanitarian work as a soft and influential force in bringing peoples closer together and strengthening international relations between the UAE and the friendly and sisterly countries around it.
