Sharjah 24: Ahmed Al Meel, Director of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), stated that the 13th edition of the Age Forum is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, in cooperation and coordination with the World Health Organization, under the theme “Artificial Intelligence in the Service of the Elderly”, which is being organised by the department with the participation of many specialists and those interested in this field, at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre in Sharjah.
He added in a statement to ”Sharjah 24,” that the SSSD, through the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Office, has highlighted the efforts made to serve the elderly since 2017, when the Emirate of Sharjah was awarded the title of the first Arab city to join the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities, as well as its contributions in transferring its experiences and knowledge to various Arab countries and urging them to participate in the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities.
He pointed out that during the 13th edition of the Age Forum, many successful experiences in artificial intelligence that serve the elderly, were discussed, especially in the health field, and the importance of having smart applications that contribute to the quality of services and deliver them efficiently to all targeted people in the Emirate of Sharjah.
He stressed at the end of his statement that during the forum’s recommendations, the focus will be on the initiatives and solutions that have been proposed to be implemented and put into effect to serve the people of the Emirate of Sharjah, in light of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, that the first and last concern should be human development as the focus of development.
