This took place during His Highness's meeting Thursday morning, with the new faculty members at the University of Sharjah. He warmly welcomed the attendees, congratulating them on joining the university and wishing them success as they contribute to the institution's esteemed educational journey.
His Highness said, referring to the various roles of the university professor in different fields inside and outside the university, "the professor's mission is no longer limited to teaching only, but rather to guiding the student in a scientific manner, leading them on their journey of knowledge acquisition through academic support and participation in research through providing them with a comprehensive educational environment, both scientifically and administratively, positioning the University of Sharjah as a gateway for students to engage in community service.”
His Highness, the President of the University of Sharjah, emphasised the importance of teaching methods and tools in the educational process. He highlighted that professors should focus on understanding the thinking styles of today’s students and leverage modern teaching approaches that integrate technology with academic content. This includes utilising innovative technologies like artificial intelligence, encouraging creative thinking, and actively involving students in both information acquisition and the overall learning process.
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi highlighted that the University of Sharjah is continually enhancing its reputation as a distinguished educational institution through international collaboration and striving for high rankings globally. The university focuses on improving its learning offerings, which fosters an environment that encourages students to research, innovate, and create.
At the end of the meeting, His Highness the President of the University of Sharjah wished all faculty members success, urging them to engage in research groups and to encourage, support, and involve students in these initiatives to help develop their skills in scientific research.
During the meeting, Dr Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, presented the university's new strategy, which focuses on five key areas: Emiratisation, digitisation, digital transformation, and international cooperation with scientific institutions, and innovation. He encouraged the new faculty members to apply their expertise to help advance the university's strategic development plans.
