13th Senior Citizens Forum launches tomorrow: AI in Their Service

Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council, in cooperation and coordination with the World Health Organisation, the activities of the 13th Senior Citizens Services Forum will kick off tomorrow, Thursday, under the theme "Artificial Intelligence in the Service of the Elderly".
Organised by the Sharjah Social Services Department, the event will see the participation of many specialists and those interested in this field, at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre in Sharjah.

The forum is organised over the course of one day, during which many events, workshops and sessions will be held to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on the elderly and its effectiveness or lack thereof.

The Sharjah Social Services Department has invited many local and international stakeholders to participate in this event, which has become an important turning point in the lives of the elderly, especially in the Emirate of Sharjah, which it has been organising for 13 years. The forum's agenda includes many main objectives, including the importance of exchanging visions and experiences on the concepts, practices and applications of artificial intelligence in serving the elderly. It addresses the latest scientific findings in artificial intelligence applications, and enhances artificial intelligence practices to confront social changes, and supports the quality of life of the elderly according to rapid developments and lifestyle changes.

It sheds light on recent transformations in the concept of aging, and explores ways to develop community services to support the elderly in light of rapid developments in the fields of technology and innovation.

The participants are an elite group of experts in the fields of healthcare and technical fields to discuss best practices and challenges related to providing comprehensive and advanced services for the elderly, from the College of Artificial Intelligence at Al-Balqa University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and from the Dubai Police General Command, Du Company, as well as the participation of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), Amazon Company, the Elderly Care Home in the Department, the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), the Emirates Association for Retired Citizens,  the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Office, and the Sharjah Police General Command.  

On the sidelines of the forum, two workshops will be organised, the first titled The Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing the Quality of Nursing, and the second titled Artificial Intelligence in Physiotherapy - Shaping the Future of Rehabilitation, and the target group is physiotherapy and nursing cadres.

The forum will also include the announcement of the winners of the third “Green Heart” Award for the Elderly, and the announcement of the winners of the fifth “Elderly Friendly Institutions”.
