Sharjah 24: The Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States (ALECGS) in Sharjah has launched an integrated distance training programme, "Emtaa," focused on the reference framework for teaching Arabic to speakers of other languages. This initiative offers a series of free online training courses tailored for educators in the field, designed to align with international standards.
The programme aims to equip participants with the necessary skills for developing curricula, creating linguistic activities, and employing modern assessment tools. Running every Friday until November 22, 2024, the programme includes 40 training hours over 10 sessions, led by Professor Dr. Ali Abdul Mohsen Al Haibi, an expert in Arabic language curricula and teaching methods.
Targeting researchers, curriculum developers, supervisors, and Arabic language teachers, the courses cover ten key topics, including the framework's components, linguistic levels, material development, and teaching strategies. They also address linguistic assessment and the integration of technology in education, aiming to enhance the skills of participants and familiarise them with the framework’s concepts and aspirations.
In addition, the programme will focus on teaching Arabic to children, individuals with hearing and visual disabilities, and those with learning difficulties, ensuring inclusivity in language education.
