Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) has launched its first introductory meeting for institutions and companies across the country, highlighting winning projects in the university category of the twelfth edition of the Sharjah Sustainability Award. This two-day event is taking place at Sharjah Safari.
During the meeting, 13 projects out of 46 winners were presented, covering areas such as design, construction, sustainability research, artificial intelligence applications, future energy, emissions, and health and environmental protection. These initiatives reflect the authority's commitment to fostering collaboration between academic institutions and the private sector, supporting innovative ideas that advance sustainable environmental goals.

The event attracted numerous representatives from leading institutions and companies, including various UAE municipalities, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, the Emirates Inventors Association, and the Public Works Departments of Sharjah and Fujairah. Additionally, members of academic bodies, university representatives, and prominent figures interested in environmental affairs participated.

The meeting showcased key winning projects, outlining their objectives and practical applications, thus providing institutions with opportunities for collaboration and support in implementing these initiatives.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority, emphasised that this meeting serves as a crucial platform for enhancing cooperation between universities and the private sector to achieve environmental sustainability goals. She noted that it is a fundamental part of Sharjah's strategic project aimed at protecting environmental resources and preserving biodiversity, aligning with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to lead in sustainable development and ensure healthy resources for future generations.

Al Suwaidi further stated that reviewing the winning projects goes beyond celebrating academic achievements; it also provides a chance to implement these initiatives on the ground, contributing to improved quality of life and environmental protection. The Authority is committed to supporting environmental projects and facilitating initiatives that benefit future generations.
