Al Wusta Channel Unveils New Shows Celebrating Culture & Heritage

Sharjah24: Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid, part of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, has revealed details of its new programming cycle, launching today (Thursday), coinciding with the channel’s 8th anniversary. The new schedule includes a variety of unique programmes, Gulf and Arab dramas, and educational documentaries. There are 26 programmes in total, reflecting the channel’s mission to provide purposeful media that fosters social values, spanning cultural, heritage, social, and religious themes. This contributes to the cultural development of the central region of Sharjah.
The new programming cycle aims to offer diverse content to meet the interests of all audience segments, in line with the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority’s goal of delivering constructive media that meets viewers' expectations.

Since its launch on 12 September 2016, the channel has ensured diverse programming in terms of content and themes while selecting top-rated dramas that have gained popularity among local audiences.

Some of the new programmes include:

- "Yaqool Al Faheem": Hosted by Dr. Salem Zayed Al Tunaiji, this show explores traditional proverbs, highlighting wisdom, traditions, and human experiences, with guest Dr. Rashid Ahmed Al Mazroui.

- "Dekkat Al Jubail": Filmed at Al Jubail Market, this show delves into the history of trade and commerce in the central region, hosted by Abdullah bin Huwaidan Al Ketbi and Zayed Matar Al Tunaiji.

- "Dhakirat Al Fareej": This programme looks back at the traditional games and unforgettable memories of the Bedouin community, illustrating how children created simple yet meaningful experiences.

- "Rihlat Najah": Focuses on ideas and initiatives to inspire young entrepreneurs and highlights business facilitation in Sharjah, hosted by Abdullah Musbah Al Kaabi.

- "Lamhat Qanuniya": A legal awareness show aimed at educating viewers on their rights and obligations, hosted by Saif Salem Zayed Al Tunaiji and featuring Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Tunaiji.

- "Nafitha Ala Al Madi": A journey into the past, sharing stories and memories of ancestors, linking history with the present. Hosted by Abdulrahman bin Dalmouk Al Ketbi and Huwaidan Mohammed Al Ketbi.

- "Injazat": This show highlights significant projects that have benefited the region, supported by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah.

- "Noor Al Quran": A religious programme offering interpretations of Quranic verses and exploring miracles in nature, including plants, humans, and animals, hosted by Sheikh Ahmed Al Mukhtar.


Al Wusta Channel is also broadcasting a range of programmes, including "Sawalif Masyan", which serves as a gathering place for the channel’s presenters along with a guest who specialises in the topic of each episode. This show is hosted by Ali bin Nouma Al Ketbi, Saeed Al Qamzi, Abdulrahman bin Dalmouk Al Ketbi, and Saif Salem Zayed Al Tunaiji. Another programme, "Al Arraba", focuses on the local Bedouin dialect, highlighting its uniqueness and the similarities between words and meanings across different environments within the country. The show is presented by Nasser Saeed Al Shammam Al Tunaiji, with Khalifa Rashid bin Hamoud Al Tunaiji as a guest in several episodes.

The show "On the Banks of Al Shari’a" narrates stories and memories about the Shari’a of Al Dhaid, with a focus on the life of Bedouin women and their significant role in supporting men through life’s hardships. The programme is hosted by Ghubaysha Rashid Al Ketbi, showcasing aspects of this role and its impact on Bedouin family life in the past. "Buq’ah", presented by Dr. Rashid Ahmed Al Mazroui, explores various locations in the central region, interviewing elderly residents who share their memories of those places. "Samet Al Awwal" is another show hosted by seniors from the region, discussing the values and principles that have shaped Bedouin life for generations. Additionally, "Majlis Al Shu’ara" features a selection of prominent poets from the UAE, particularly from the central region, and is hosted by poet Sultan bin Khalifa Al Tunaiji.

Furthermore, the channel offers several programmes dedicated to the heritage and hobbies of the region’s people, such as "Thil Al Ghafah", "Qahwat Al Duha", "Al Majlis", "Ahl Al Ibil", "Bariq Al Dhakira", and "Khairat Al Wusta". The show "Dhakirat Makan" dives into the history of significant figures and locations in the central region, shedding light on their stories and the memories that the local residents hold about them. Another show, "Popular Dishes", presents some of the most famous Emirati dishes that the people of the region are known for. The channel also airs the religious programme "Tadabburat Qur'aniya", which delves into the interpretation of Quranic verses and highlights the miracles mentioned in the Quran, such as those related to plants, humans, and animals.

The morning show, "Yawmiyat Al Wusta", focuses on various aspects of the lives of citizens and residents, highlighting the environment, heritage, and lifestyle of the region’s people. It also covers topics of interest to women, youth, sports, cooking, medical and religious advice, and social issues.

Saeed Rashid bin Fadil Al Ketbi, Director of Al Wusta Channel, stated: "With this new programming cycle, we aimed to ensure diversity in terms of content, ideas, and the subjects we plan to cover, while also selecting high-quality dramas that are widely followed or have gained significant popularity, in order to meet the needs of various audience segments. Al Ketbi added: "The channel carries the great responsibility of promoting and preserving the customs, heritage, nature, and culture of the central region. Its focus is on various aspects of life in the region, while also showcasing its achievements and highlighting the events and activities that take place throughout the year. The channel seeks to fulfil its vision of serving as a bridge connecting the region’s rich past with its bright present and future."
