Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Camel Racing Club (SCRC) held a meeting with the Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) - Central Region Branch to discuss and evaluate the current status of construction work at Al Dhaid Camel Racecourse, follow up on the progress of work on the 6 km track, and the construction of a 2 km track.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Abdullah Mohammed bin Muadhd bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, Engineer Abdullah Al Tunaiji, Director of the Public Works Department Branches Department, Engineer Khalifa Al Darmaki, Director of the Public Works Department - Al Dhaid Branch, Mohammed Obaid bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, Engineer Ahmed Al Hosani, Ahmed Al Tunaiji, Engineer Mohammed Ali and Engineer Mahmoud Abdelfattah from the Public Works Department - Central Region Branch.
During the meeting, the progress of work was reviewed, and what has been recently accomplished in Al Dhaid Camel Racecourse, including paving the ground of the racecourse and the control tower, in a 6-kilometre track, and work on establishing a 2-kilometre track for weanlings. A number of topics related to development work on the racecourse ground were also discussed.
His Excellency Abdullah Mohammed bin Muadhd bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi stressed that thanks to the directives and interest of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in developing Al Dhaid Camel Racecourse, the racecourse now has high technical specifications, which are the same as those applied in camel racecourses in all regions of the UAE.
He pointed out that the new construction of Al Dhaid Camel Racecourse and the subsequent development, equipment and preparation have placed it among the most important camel racecourses in the Gulf and the Arab world, and it is ready to host various types of camel races.
